Robert went to Canisius College in Buffalo, New York and as well Albany Law School where he graduated in 1974. He is married to Jane Balbick, and have three children, Kristen Degnan, Katie Bellamy and Michael Balbick. Robert and Jane are members of Resurrection Parish in Batavia, New York. Robert also serves as president of the Jerome Hospital Foundation and is a member of the Batavia Lions Club. As an attorney Robert was admitted in 1975 in both the State and Federal bars. He has served as the director of the assigned council plan for criminal and family courts in Genesee County, the examiner for the committee accounts in Genesee County Surrogate Court, the Batavia City criminal court prosecutor, the Assistant City of Batavia attorney and was Batavia City Court judge for 28 years. He also served as an acting Genesee County Court judge and Genesee County family court judge. Robert has been in the private practice of law for approximately 40 years before his judgeship became full-time. His areas of practice included Estates, real estate, business law, Wills and general law.
