Ms. Degnan is a trial attorney experienced in civil defense litigation in the areas of premises and automobile liability, lead paint, labor law, products liability, no-fault, loss transfer claims, and toxic torts. Ms. Degnan is also experienced in handling matrimonial and family law matters. She was named a Rising Star Super Lawyer in 2015. Ms. Degnan founded the Law Offices of Kristen Balbick Degnan in 2021 and has been proud to watch the firm grow. Ms. Degnan’s clients are her number one priority and focus. She uses a collaborative approach to help give clients the best legal outcome. Ms. Degnan has over 20 years of trial experience.

Ms. Degnan is a graduate of Allegheny College (B.A., magna cum laude, 2001) and Albany Law School (J.D. 2004). She was admitted to the State Bar of New York in 2005 and to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States District Court, Western District of New York, and the Western District of New York Bankruptcy Court.

She is the current Director of the Buffalo Claims Association and is a member of Claims Litigation Management (CLM); the Western New York Insurance Association (WNYIA); Self-Insurer’s Association of the Niagara Frontier (SIANF); New York State Bar Association; and the Erie County Bar Association, where she is a member of the Negligence and Matrimonial Committees.

Kristen Degnan was a former Assistant District Attorney in Erie County. She also works Of Counsel with the Law Offices of Hope Jay helping clients navigate matrimonial and family law cases and is a provider for the Center for Hope of WNY, which is an organization dedicated to helping survivors of narcissistic abuse.

Outside of the office, Ms. Degnan enjoys spending time with her husband, four daughters and three dogs.
